Designing a module for the spatial beam shaping of femtosecond lasers (M/F)

The internship

We are seeking an intern to assist in designing a module for the spatial beam shaping of femtosecond lasers for materials microprocessing. The project will focus on creating opto-electronics methods for aligning and controlling the shape of the laser beam. Using your optical and instrumentation skills, you will be asked to:

  • Participate in the optical design and testing of a beam shaping module
  • Design optical measurements to generate analog and digital error signals
  • Develop feedback loops to optimize module performance
  • Accelerate image processing algorithms to stabilize module performance

 

Profile

Key points:
  • Knowledgeable about geometrical and wave optics
  • Experience in experimental free-space optics and/or physics in general
  • Analytical and synthesis skills

 

Desirable skills:
  • Programming skills (Python language preferentially) for hardware interfacing
  • Experience in designing, prototyping and testing in instrumentation
  • Detail-oriented, rigorous, motivated and autonomous
