New generation high-power laser heads for innovative materials processing (M/F)

The internship

Spatial light shaping for very high-power lasers (continuous kW) enables very high gains in terms of quality and speed for many manufacturing processes: cutting, welding, and 3D printing (different technologies including SLM, WLAM, etc.)


In collaboration with Institut Maupertuis (a world-renowned center for the development of innovative industrial technologies), Cailabs developed a platform for testing laser processes, you will work on joint developments and trials.


You will be working as part of the Cailabs R&D team under the project manager and your main tasks will include:

  • Aligning and characterizing optical modules at low-power
  • Integrating and characterizing high power systems at Institut Maupertuis
  • Participating in the development of new modules (coaxial camera, motorized focusing, etc.)



Key points:
  • Passionate about experimental work
  • Experience with optical alignment in free space and geometric optics
  • Good working knowledge in Gaussian, single-mode and multi-mode optics
  • Skilled in analyzing and modeling physical problems


Desirable skills:
  • Programming experience (Python Language)
  • Rigorous, motivated and creative
