Une des premi\u00e8res techniques utilis\u00e9es s\u2019appelle le \u00ab brasage \u00bb<sup>(1)<\/sup>. Elle a pour but de fixer deux pi\u00e8ces m\u00e9talliques entre elles \u00e0 l\u2019aide d\u2019un m\u00e9tal d\u2019apport, ayant une temp\u00e9rature de fusion inf\u00e9rieure \u00e0 celle du mat\u00e9riau composant les pi\u00e8ces \u00e0 assembler. Ainsi, seul le m\u00e9tal d\u2019apport est port\u00e9 \u00e0 son point de fusion et fait la jonction entre les deux pi\u00e8ces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Le \u00ab Petit Chien \u00e0 B\u00e9li\u00e8re \u00bb est consid\u00e9r\u00e9 par les historiens comme un des premiers exemples d\u00e9montrant l\u2019utilisation de cette technologie<sup>(2)<\/sup>. Un exemple plus actuel de ce proc\u00e9d\u00e9 est l\u2019utilisation du fer \u00e0 souder&nbsp;<em>(ou plus pr\u00e9cis\u00e9ment \u00ab&nbsp;fer \u00e0 braser&nbsp;\u00bb&nbsp;!)<\/em>&nbsp;pour assembler des composants \u00e9lectroniques \u00e0 l\u2019aide d\u2019\u00e9tain (qui est donc le m\u00e9tal d\u2019apport).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Quant \u00e0 lui, le soudage consiste en l\u2019assemblage de pi\u00e8ces de mani\u00e8re \u00ab continue \u00bb au niveau de la jonction entre ces derni\u00e8res, avec ou sans l\u2019utilisation d\u2019un m\u00e9tal d\u2019apport<sup>(1)<\/sup>. La notion de continuit\u00e9 signifie qu\u2019il n\u2019existe plus r\u00e9ellement de d\u00e9limitation entre les mat\u00e9riaux \u00e0 assembler, et \u00e9ventuellement le m\u00e9tal d\u2019apport. La jonction se fait de mani\u00e8re fluide, les deux pi\u00e8ces se \u00ab&nbsp;m\u00e9langent&nbsp;\u00bb au niveau de la soudure. Une bonne mani\u00e8re d\u2019assurer cette continuit\u00e9 est d\u2019amener les deux pi\u00e8ces \u00e0 leur point de fusion localement \u00e0 leur interface.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">L\u2019\u00e9volution du soudage \u00e0 l\u2019arc comme solution industrielle<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Auparavant r\u00e9alis\u00e9 en grande partie de mani\u00e8re artisanale par des m\u00e9thodes de forgeage, la fin du XIX\u00e8me si\u00e8cle apporte la maitrise de nouvelles sources d\u2019\u00e9nergies et permet de d\u00e9velopper les premi\u00e8res techniques de soudage industrielles.<sup>(3)<\/sup><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Parmi ces premi\u00e8res techniques d\u00e9velopp\u00e9es, on trouve le soudage au gaz, lors duquel une flamme cr\u00e9\u00e9e par combustion dudit gaz avec de l\u2019oxyg\u00e8ne, vient chauffer et fusionner les pi\u00e8ces \u00e0 assembler. On en distingue plusieurs variantes, mais le principe global reste identique : la pi\u00e8ce \u00e0 souder et une \u00e9lectrode sont reli\u00e9es \u00e9lectriquement \u00e0 un g\u00e9n\u00e9rateur, lorsque l\u2019\u00e9lectrode est positionn\u00e9e suffisamment proche de la pi\u00e8ce par l\u2019op\u00e9rateur, un arc \u00e9lectrique se cr\u00e9\u00e9 entre la pi\u00e8ce et l\u2019\u00e9lectrode. Ce dernier, combin\u00e9 \u00e0 la r\u00e9sistance au courant \u00e9lectrique des pi\u00e8ces, d\u00e9gage de l\u2019\u00e9nergie sous forme de chaleur, qui fait fondre le bord des pi\u00e8ces \u00e0 souder (et le m\u00e9tal d\u2019apport).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Cependant, le m\u00e9tal \u00e9tant port\u00e9 \u00e0 tr\u00e8s haute temp\u00e9rature (plusieurs milliers de degr\u00e9s Celsius, selon le proc\u00e9d\u00e9), il est n\u00e9cessaire de le prot\u00e9ger de l\u2019oxyg\u00e8ne et de l\u2019azote ambiants, qui pourraient venir cr\u00e9er des soufflures ou oxyder la soudure, et donc conduire \u00e0 une mauvaise qualit\u00e9 d\u2019assemblage. Les diff\u00e9rentes techniques \u00e9nonc\u00e9es ici diff\u00e8rent soit par le type d\u2019\u00e9lectrode, soit par la m\u00e9thode de protection de la soudure.<sup>(4)(5)<\/sup><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Electrode enrob\u00e9e&nbsp;<\/strong>(en anglais&nbsp;: Shielded Metal Arc Welding&nbsp;&#8211; SMAW)&nbsp;: l\u2019\u00e9lectrode est constitu\u00e9e d\u2019une \u00e2me m\u00e9tallique qui va \u00e0 la fois conduire le courant pour cr\u00e9er l\u2019arc et fondre pour faire office de m\u00e9tal d\u2019apport. C\u2019est donc une \u00e9lectrode qui va se consommer au cours du proc\u00e9d\u00e9. Elle est enrob\u00e9e par un mat\u00e9riau qui va \u00e9galement fondre au cours du soudage et se d\u00e9poser au-dessus de la soudure pour la prot\u00e9ger de l\u2019oxydation, elle est appel\u00e9e \u00ab&nbsp;laitier&nbsp;\u00bb et doit \u00eatre retir\u00e9e une fois que la soudure a refroidi.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>MIG<\/strong>&nbsp;(Metal Inert Gas) &amp;&nbsp;<strong>MAG<\/strong>&nbsp;(Metal Active Gas), aussi connu sous le nom \u00abGas Metal Arc Welding\u00bb&nbsp;(GMAW)&nbsp;: Concernant ces proc\u00e9d\u00e9s, l\u2019\u00e9lectrode est \u00e9galement consomm\u00e9e au cours du soudage, mais la protection de la soudure est effectu\u00e9e \u00e0 l\u2019aide d\u2019un gaz. La diff\u00e9rence entre MIG et MAG se trouve dans le type de gaz utilis\u00e9&nbsp;: argon ou h\u00e9lium pour le MIG, et CO2, ou un m\u00e9lange CO2 \u2013 Argon, pour MAG.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>TIG<\/strong>&nbsp;(Tungsten Inert Gas), aussi connu sous le nom \u00ab&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Gas_tungsten_arc_welding\">Gas Tungsten Arc Welding<\/a>\u00bb&nbsp;(GTAW)&nbsp;: Ici, l\u2019\u00e9lectrode est compos\u00e9e de Tungst\u00e8ne, et ne se consomme pas lors du proc\u00e9d\u00e9. Il est possible d\u2019utiliser cette technique avec ou sans m\u00e9tal d\u2019apport, qui doit alors \u00eatre amen\u00e9 au niveau de la soudure, manuellement via une baguette ou automatiquement via une bobine. Une atmosph\u00e8re protectrice est \u00e9galement cr\u00e9\u00e9e gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 un gaz inerte (Argon).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Plasma<\/strong>, ou Plasma Arc Welding (PAW)&nbsp;: Ce proc\u00e9d\u00e9 est une \u00e9volution du TIG, pour lequel le gaz pulv\u00e9ris\u00e9 ne sert plus uniquement \u00e0 prot\u00e9ger la soudure, mais est ionis\u00e9, et passe donc \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9tat de plasma. L\u2019automatisation permet d\u2019am\u00e9liorer la qualit\u00e9 de la soudure et d\u2019augmenter la cadence de production.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-left\">L\u2019\u00e9mergence de nouvelles techniques r\u00e9volutionnaires<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dans la deuxi\u00e8me moiti\u00e9 du XX<sup>\u00e8me<\/sup>&nbsp;si\u00e8cle, de nouvelles m\u00e9thodes de soudage ont \u00e9t\u00e9 mises au point. Parmi elles, on trouve le proc\u00e9d\u00e9 par friction malaxage, lors duquel un pion en rotation est plong\u00e9 \u00e0 jonction des deux pi\u00e8ces, puis avance le long de la ligne de soudure. Ce pion est constitu\u00e9 d\u2019une tige qui p\u00e9n\u00e8tre dans le plan de joint ainsi que d\u2019un \u00e9paulement qui s\u2019appuie sur la surface des pi\u00e8ces et limite la p\u00e9n\u00e9tration de la tige. Cette derni\u00e8re m\u00e9thode constitue une r\u00e9volution du point de vue technique et pr\u00e9sente de nombreux avantages, c\u2019est pourquoi elle sera l\u2019objet du prochain article de cette s\u00e9rie.
