CONTEC and Cailabs Deploy CONTEC’s Second Optical Ground Station in South Korea
Daejeon, South Korea / Rennes, France – CONTEC, a leading company of satellite communication technology and services via CONTEC One GSaaS platform in South Korea, and Cailabs, a global leader in laser communication solutions, today announced the successful deployment of CONTEC’s second optical ground station (OGS) at the Asian Space Park in South Korea.
This milestone significantly enhances its ground segment capabilities to support the growing demand for high-speed data downlinks from next-generation satellites. The addition of optical technology enables faster, more secure, and interference-free data transmission compared to traditional radio frequency systems.
The newly deployed optical ground station leverages Cailabs’ advanced laser communication technology, including its proprietary atmospheric turbulence mitigation, to support missions from Earth observation to high-throughput constellations. The Cailabs TILBA®-OGS L10 is the only turnkey industrial OGS with a proven track record of successful links across multiple constellations. “This deployment is a major step forward in our mission to expand optical communication infrastructures globally,” said Jean-François Morizur, CEO of Cailabs. “We are honored to support CONTEC in integrating optical ground stations into their network and enabling higher performance space data services and look forward to upcoming optical links with CONTEC’s station.”
“The successful deployment of our optical ground station is a key milestone for CONTEC,” said Dr. Sunghee Lee, CEO of CONTEC. “By working with Cailabs, we are strengthening our technological capabilities and positioning ourselves to meet the increasing demand for faster and more reliable satellite communications.”
With this deployment, CONTEC is positioning itself as a leading optical ground service provider in Asia, supporting the next generation of high-capacity satellite communications.
