Cailabs releases high-energy laser beam module

 

Unique and versatile laser beam shaping platform providing the ideal combination of quality shaping, efficiency and cost, leading to the development of a new generation of improved laser processes. Designed for material processing, additive manufacturing, LiDAR and power combining.

 

Rennes, France – Cailabs, a deep tech start-up that develops and produces a large range of light shaping components, announced the release of their Canunda-MP laser beam shaping platform today. Canunda-MP was specifically designed for high energy lasers.

 

Canunda-MP is a passive component that enables accurate and complex shaping of laser beams while maintaining optimal beam quality limited by beam diffraction. Canunda-MP uses MPLC1 technology, rendering it compatible with a wide variety of laser sources. In addition, its reflective design allows it to withstand high peak power.

 

Canunda-MP is particularly well-suited to applications requiring precise laser shaping without compromising beam quality, enabling increased flexibility in the design of optical systems.

 

The Canunda-MP by Cailabs will be showcased for the first time at Booth #5644 at the Photonics West 2018 conference in San Francisco from January 30 to February 1, 2018.

 

Today, the improved performance of laser systems is linked to the ability to control the shape of the beam not only at its point of impact but also during propagation.

 

Canunda-MP is a passive component providing increased flexibility to the optical systems that have integrated it. Canunda-MP is especially used for micro-machining materials, which includes transparent, remote measurement (LiDAR), stereo-lithography (additive manufacturing), laser telecommunications in free space and the power combination of several lasers.

 

Cailabs has developed Canunda-MP using MPLC technology, initially used in the field telecommunications. However, “we have specifically designed this new platform in order to meet the demands of high-energy laser applications: we offer the ideal compromise between efficiency, beam quality and cost. CAILabs offers an “all-inclusive” package for laser shaping, which conveniently replaces current systems, “explains Lionel Garcia, Canunda Product Manager.

Canunda-MP is the second product from the CANUNDA platform. The first, Canunda-HP, is a high-power laser shaping platform (> 10 kW) primarily used for cutting, welding and metal additive manufacturing.

Canunda-MP will be showcased at Photonics West in San Francisco, USA from January 30 to February 1, 2018 at Cailabs booth #5644.
